Reigning Champion GIO PONTI (c. 5, Tale of the Cat - Chipeta Springs by Alydar) captured his 5th Grade 1 victory in the Man o' War Stakes at Belmont Park on July 10th.  Despite slow fractions, Ramon Dominguez guided the Castleton Lyons' color-bearer to a fantastically timed win to defend his title winning this race for the second year in a row.  Trainer Christophe Clement was tickled with the performance.  "The race was completely against him;" stated Clement. "They walked in front, he was last, but he's good enough to be versatile and win the race."

GIO PONTI will now be pointed towards another victory in the G1 Arlington Million in Chicago or possibly the G1 Pacific Classic at Del Mar.
