A $260,000 Gio Ponti colt presented by Select Sales, as agent, posted the highest price for any first crop sire at the Fasig Tipton October Sale. He was purchased by Pick Six Racing who campaign this colt's half-brother Vyjack who recently won the G2 Kelso at Belmont. The Gio Ponti's successful new owner's principal David Wilkenfeld said, "the breeders are great people to buy from, the dam's been terrific, and Gio Ponti was a great horse, he was brilliant at a mile and he could stay a mile and a quarter, he ran that good second to Zenyatta in the G1 Breeders' Cup Classic. I think he's going to be a nice sire". In fact the dam Life Happened as well as producing the top class Vyjack has been represented by Tepin and Prime Cut, both by the late Castleton Lyons sire, Bernstein. Post sale Wilkenfeld said that Vyjack's trainer Rudy Rodriguez will likely train this Gio Ponti colt.
