Planchart, a three-year-old filly by Gio Ponti out of the Castleton Lyons mare Tarrip, won the Arthur Guinness EBF Corrib Fillies Stakes at Galway earlier today. Racing in the colors of Pat Garvey and trained by Andy Slattery, the filly turned in a resolute performance over the 7 furlong trip. Well placed throughout, she collared the pacemaker Rayisa and drew alongside in the final furlong to prevail by a half-length at the wire under an excellent Declan McDonogh ride. The dam has a full-sister to Planchart that agent Mike Ryan acquired at the 2015 Keeneland September Sales, and she also has a full-brother due to be presented at the yearling sales later this year. Tarrip also has a Malibu Moon filly born last April and is currently in foal to The Factor, due in the spring of 2017.
