Antonia Autumn, a 5-y-old sibling to Champion Gio Ponti by former Castleton Lyons resident stallion Bernstein won an allowance in impressive style at Gulfstream yesterday. The homebred mare was having her first afternoon outing since last May having sustained several cuts and lacerations follwing a fall on the back stretch at Saratoga last summer. Returing in fine fettle here, Christohe Clement engaged the services of fellow countryman Julien Leparoux to steer Anronia Autumn in this eight furlong turf test. Breaking from an unfavorable post ten in a thirteen runner field, Julien was able to settle the young mare towards the rear where she settled beautifully before making an incisive run through the field down the stretch to win by a very cozy half length. Her jockey commented post race that they enjoyed a great trip and when he switched gears the reponse was immediate and they smoothly put away the opposition.
