Castleton Lyons Farm has announced that they will be standing Wiseman’s Ferry for the 2006 season.

Wiseman’s Ferry, a six-year-old son of leading sire Hennessy was a multiple Graded Stakes winner of over

$825,000. He stood his initial two seasons at Empire Stud in New York, where he covering substantial books and was the number one covering sire in the State of New York in his first season at stud.

Wiseman’s Ferry has a beautiful pedigree and comes from the same family of emerging young sires, Bernstein and Sky Mesa, both of which have caught the eye of breeders recently.

Commenting on Wiseman’s Ferry’s imminent move to Castleton Lyons, General Manager Julian Dollar said, “We feel particularly fortunate to be able to identify another exciting young horse to bring to Kentucky for local breeders. He is a superb looking individual and has rightly proved hugely popular with New York breeders who have been rewarded with a terrific first crop of foals. Wiseman’s Ferry showed brilliant speed to win the Grade 3 West Virginia Derby and the Grade 3 Lone Star Derby, while as a two-year-old he finished second to Johannesburg in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes. His sire Hennessy is doing very well and his family is one of the best in the book. With Bernstein’s progeny winning all over the globe and Sky Mesa’s foals selling through the roof this November we feel that this young horse represents great value at $8,500, particularly relative to his sire’s fee of $75,000 for 2006. He has strong owner support and I expect him to prove very popular.”

Wiseman’s Ferry’s first crop of foals have been much in demand and sold impressively at the recent Fasig Tipton and Keeneland Sales making up to $80,000 and averaging almost nine times his stud fee.

Wiseman’s Ferry is expected to arrive at Castleton Lyons this weekend and will be available for inspection early next week. He will stand for $8,500 Live Foal (Nov 1) terms.
