The Semifinalists for the 2009 Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award have been announced. The Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award, named for the founder of Castleton Lyons, is presented annually to honor the best book published about the Thoroughbred Industry. The winner for this year's award will be announced on April 23rd.
Previous winners include The Untold Story of Joe Hernandez: The Voice of Santa Anita (2008), Not by a Long Shot: A Season at a Hard-Luck Horse Track by T.D. Thornton (2007), and Black Maestro by Joe Drape (2006).
