In Efforts To Serve The Breeders, Stud Fees Lowered Across the Board

Castleton Lyons in Lexington has reduced stud fees for its four stallions for the 2008 breeding season. Bernstein will stand for $20,000, a reduction from $30,000 in 2007. Toccet, whose first foals will be two-year olds in 2008, was moved to $12,500 after standing for $20,000 in ’07. Sir Shackleton and Wiseman’s Ferry will both stand for $5,000 in 2008, down from $7,500 and $8,500, respectively.

“We recognize that the market is entering a period of stabilization, and we wish to ensure that our valued clients are in a position to make a return on their investment,” Castleton Lyons President Shane Ryan said. “Breeders have requested that stallion farms in Kentucky review their stud fees. Castleton Lyons is listening and responding.”
