Naissance Royale ( IRE) was tested to the wire in her 2006 bow, but showed the same kind of heart that earned her a victory in last season's GII Lake Placid S. The Irish-bred began her career in France, where she placed second in the G3 Prix Vanteaux in May before running fourth in the G1 Prix Saint-Alary a few weeks later. She concluded her European stand with an offthe- board finish in the G3 Prix Chloe in early July. She beat the talented My Typhoon (Ire) in the Lake Placid in her American debut, but just failed to last in the Oct. 15 GI Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Keeneland, finishing fourth, and was shelved. Sent off the public=s prohibitive 1-2 choice here, she closed with a rush to join the leaders going into the far turn and at the top of the stretch had just Esplanade (King of Kings {Ire}) to get by. That 10-1 chance fought every inch of the stretch, but Naissance Royale proved too classy in the end, winning by a neck. The victress is a half to Spinnette (Ire) (Spinning World), MGSP-Eng. Lifetime Record: GSW-US & GSP-Fr, 9-3-2-0, $196,646.
