Castleton Lyons’s Miss Mambo came from more than nine lengths off the pace with a three-wide move on the turn and hit the wire first in the final strides.
A Group 1-placed stakes winner in Europe, the five-year-old Kingmambo mare entered the race off an unplaced finish in the Athenia Handicap at Belmont Park in October.
Miss Mambo is the first foal to race out of the winning Strawberry Road (Aus) mare Troika. The second dam of Miss Mambo is 1986 champion grass mare Estrapade, a half sister to 1990 Horse of the Year Criminal Type.
