Baomoa Corporation's Drefong won for fun again at Santa Anita in a 6 1/2 furlong allowance for trainer Bob Baffert and jockey Mike Smith. Settling in second early, the son of Gio Ponti took control leaving the backstretch and cruised home by 5 1/4 lengths under a motionless Smith to improve his record to 3 for 4 lifetime. He earned a Beyer of 103 which currently is the co-highest figure for sophomores in 2016. Drefong shares this rating with classic winners Exaggerator and Nyquist and connections will be tempted to go east for the G2 Amsterdam and G1 King's Bishop at Saratoga, traditional summer highlights for three-year-old sprinters.
