BIG BAND SOUND WITH AN EMPHATIC WIN IN THE G2 PLAY THE KING
Big Band Sound (h. 5, Bernstein - Ensnare by Seeking the Gold) has been running well all year at Woodbine and broke through in great style when winning the G2 $200,000 Play the King Stakes yesterday over seven furlongs on the lawn. The Danny Vella trained horse turned in an excellent performance after encountering trouble in running which delayed his final move in the stretch. Jockey Tyler Pizarro eventually found daylight for the Kendel Standlee owned horse to win by an impressive 2 1/2 lengths. Afterwards Danny Vella stated "he's the real deal, this horse" as he outlined plans to run Big Band Sound in the G1 $1million Woodbine Mile in September. Congratulations to all connections including breeder Richard Shultz.
