Christophe Clement's stable and the Castleton colors are in great form as summer arrives throughout the country. Up the Ante was smooth on the lawn at Belmont last Thursday and Ponti Scheme remained unbeaten with a grassy score at Gulfstream yesterday. The Gio Ponti homebred four-year-old filly was very well handled by Nik Juarez, one of the leading riders on this circuit. Nik rode the perfect race, finding a good position on the hedge early and then making sure that the early pace of Fashionably Wild didn't get too far away from him. Ranging up on the outside coming off the final turn she wore down the pacemaker to win by a good neck at the wire in this eight furlong contest. This was the filly's first start since March 2017 and connections were delighted and she now heads to New York for a summer campaign.
