HALL OF FAME NOMINATION FOR GIO PONTI

Castleton homebred Champion and resident sire Gio Ponti, is one of eleven finalists on the National Museum of Racing's 2017 Hall of Fame Ballot. The other equine nominees are Goldikova and Kona Gold while the remainder is made up of a mixture of jockeys and trainers, Robby Albarado, Javier Castellano, Victor Espinoza, Garret Gomez, Craig Perret for the pilots, while trainers are represented by Mark Casse, John Shirreffs and David Whiteley. A maximum of four candidates with the highest voting total (provided they receive majority approval, 51%), will be elected to the Hall of Fame, with results announced on April 24. Gio Ponti was one of the best racehorses of recent times, annexing over $6million in prize money, three Eclipse Awards and seven Grade 1's including the Arlington Million (left) in a lengthy and illustrious career. This is an early nomination for him as he has just met the requirements of being retired for five years. Race fans all over, are very proud of this nomination and hope that he is inducted in the Hall of Fame class of 2017.
